Choreographer and dancer Claire Croizé has chosen to use classical music by Gustav Mahler for her new solo performance. This time she will work with his romantic piece Der Abschied, in which the individual is harshly confronted with his own mortality. Croizé, who also performed in Kris Verdonck’s I/II/III/IIII and End, looks for a steady balance between her graceful and fragile style and the grandeur of Mahler’s symphony. Her choreography wins its own place in the composition and becomes just as much part of it as the vocals or the instruments. Light also plays a prominent role, entwined in a duet with the music and the dancer.
