After 50 years of practice, Henning Larsen is an established name in both Denmark and the rest of Europe. It was in his firm, which adheres to the Scandinavian principle of a horizontal structure combined with a dynamic design approach and particular attention to sustainable building, that many young Danish architects such as Dorte Mandrup and Bjarke Ingels (PLOT) first earned their spurs. His opera houses, such as those in Copenhagen and Uppsala, have been an inspiration to several other cultural institutions in Scandinavia and Western Europe.
