Feest van de Filosofie | SOLD OUT
Hoger Instituut voor Wijsbegeerte i.s.m. STUK & 30CC
sat 31 mar 12 . 13:30 > 22:00 . STUK

Due to illness, the opening lecture of Feest van de Filosofie (31/03) cannot be given by Peter Sloterdijk. He will be replaced by the English philosopher Roger Scruton. Scruton is one of the most influential (and controversial) contemporary thinkers. He is also the author of over thirty philosophical books, five novels and two opera libretti. Besides his texts on modern philosophy, aesthetics and music, he is also known for his formidable contributions to social debates (ranging from ecological themes and animal rights to immigration and nationalism). For the BBC, he made the documentary Why Beauty Matters (2009). The title of his lecture is Soul, Self and Face.

The rest of the programme stays unchanged. If you decide not to come because of the change in programme, your ticket can be payed back - on display of the ticket. Refunds apply until Friday April 27 2012, please contact the organisation you bought the ticket from (30cc or STUK).

Our sincere apologies, and thank you for your understanding.

Feest van de Filosofie is completely sold out. There will be no waiting list.
Reserved tickets can be picked up at STUK Onthaal until Friday March 30, 21:00. On the day of the event (Saturday March 31), tickets can be picked up at the 30CC/Schouwburg ticket desk from 13:00.

On March 31, 2012, STUK Arts Centre and 30CC open their doors for the third Feest van de Filosofie. Lectures, debates, workshops, a philosophical city walk, philosophy for kids, a theatre performance and a movie will tackle a whole range of social and philosophical themes, making them accessible for young and old. This year's theme is 'the soul'.

One of today's most influential philosophers will host the opening lecture at 30CC/Schouwburg: German philospher Peter Sloterdijk. Afterwards, you can go to STUK for lectures and panel talks with Dick Swaab, Herman van Praag, Arnold Burms, Peter Venmans, Joël De Ceulaer, Samuel Ijsseling, Diderik Batens, Hubert Dethier, Gertrudis Van de Vijver, Filip Buekens and Jean Paul Van Bendegem, mixed with a soulful concert by Jan Hautekiet and Pascal Deweze and a final philosophical theatre performance by Sarah Vanhee: Turning Turning, a choreography of thoughts.

The full programme of the event can be found on www.feestvandefilosofie.be
