When night falls,
Nico Kennes reaches for his guitar. He writes, erases and rewrites, but his music has not left the safety of four walls for years. Until now. The songwriter from Brussels is sending his music out into the world as Barely AutumnThe first single Losing Ground is a compelling, two-minute synthesis of Barely Autumn’s nameless debut album. It’s melodic melancholy in the same vein as Elliott Smith, Sophia and Eels. And even Nick Cave and Neil Young’s poetry are never far away.

Nico Kennes conceived his debut album anonymously at STUK and then isolated himself with his band and producer Wouter Vlaeminck (tomàn, Raketkanon, Renée, etc.) in the midst of the Belgian forest. British sound technician John Davis (Nick Cave, U2, Royal Blood, etc.) signed up to master the record. Barely Autumn also brings along Brussels-based singer-songwriter Leonore

Barely Autumn’s self-titled album launches with Zealrecords on September 29th.
