Cinema Poussette: BlacKkKlansman

A comedy with a message for the very young and old: baby cinema with Spike Lee

During STUK RE-START, Cinema ZED experiments with baby cinema! Not just a film for babies, but parents can take their baby up to 1 year old with them. No need for a babysitter: we won’t dim the lights, turn the sound down a bit and make room for a Maxi Cosy right next to your seat!

The movie on show is BlacKkKlansman, Spike Lee’s new movie about Ron, an Afro-American who infiltrates into the local KKK. The first phone contacts are fine, but when face-to-face meetings are required, Ron is replaced by his Jewish colleague Flip.

“A black man and a Jew walk into the KKK”, only Spike Lee can afford to make a comedy starting with that premise. And only Spike Lee manages to turn the bitter reality of incredible racial hate into an entertaining movie without losing track of the message. 27 years after Jungle Fever, BlacKkKlansman marked Lee’s return to Cannes, where it was met with a minute-long standing ovation as well as winning the Grand Jury Prize.
