Short Cut Leuven

Short Cut Leuven

Stijn Van Dorpe

Visual artist Stijn Van Dorpe takes a group of people through Louvain's city centre along (an imaginary) line. For example, they may walk through a house and garden and end up at the house that backs onto it.  The route also takes them through shops, public property and Louvain's rich heritage.  This is how Van Dorpe marries his artistic practice with the outside world and addresses topics such as ‘city living', ‘what is public, what is private?' or ‘loss of privacy'.  The short cut is clearly an unattainable goal, but it is precisely the obstacles that give the initiative a raison d'être and add a touch of poetry.  The video montage of this unique event will later become the focal point of an exhibition in STUK (2/12/10 -23/01/11).

The entire route and all information to take part in the walk can be found on www.stuk.be.
