Jimmy Robert (FR/RO)

A clean line that starts from the shoulder (performance)

A series of fine line-drawings of Congolese men and women in draped robes by the Belgian-Romanian artist Idel Ianchelevici formed the basis for a new performance by Jimmy Robert, who works with a female performer to develop a dialogue of movements. The result recalls Madrigal and Enjambement – two videos by Lili Dujourie, which can also be seen in the exhibition. The suggestion of fragility, movement and identity in these works is also central to Robert’s performance.
