The entire site was renovated in 2002 by architect Willem Jan Neutelings and has a total area of 10,000 square meters. In 2021-2023, part of the site was renovated again, together with NRA with the commitment to make the site more sustainable, accessible and inclusive. The strength of the infrastructure lies in the unique combination between new construction and renovation around a strong central idea: STUK is a city-in-the-city.

STUK - House for Dance, Image & Sound is looking for an infrastructure manager (100%) for indefinite term starting October 1, 2025 (date negotiable, 80% employment also possible).
Situation of the position
As infrastructure manager you are part of the technical & building team. This team is managed by the technical management and consists of a stage & expo section and an infrastructure section. For the stage & expo section there are 7 permanent technicians who are managed by the stage technology coordinator. The infrastructure section consists of the infrastructure manager, the facility manager, a housekeeper and indirectly the many subcontractors we work with, including a cleaning company.
STUK has a close relationship with KU Leuven as far as infrastructure is concerned. As infrastructure manager, you are also the first point of contact on building-related matters and maintain a good relationship with various employees of the technical services.
The infrastructure manager
Coordinates minor and major repairs and supervises outside maintenance firms in their operations;
Is constantly looking for improvements that will benefit the operation of the arts center;
Plans and prioritises necessary investments and closely monitors budgets;
Prepares cleaning schedules taking into account the complex operation of an arts centre;
Together with the facility manager, organises daily maintenance and minor repairs.
What are your tasks
You drive continuous optimisation and innovation, putting sustainable policies first.
You think creatively about STUK's infrastructure and keep it ‘up to date’ in order to support and strengthen its substantive operation. This includes all technical installations such as building management systems, HVAC, electricity, lifts, fire protection, sanitary facilities, etc.
You ensure proper integration of the works to be carried out within STUK's programming.
You manage the medium-term infrastructure budgets.
You coordinate the progress of the various infrastructure investments from start to finish.
You draft tenders and monitor the progress of the procedures.
You ensure rapid intervention in case of defects.
Together with the management, you are liaison with the Cultural Infrastructure Fund (Flemish government), the City of Leuven or KU Leuven regarding infrastructure. You lead these meetings and can report on them.
You manage inspection and maintenance tasks.
You are responsible for safety and administrative follow-up and you monitor the applicable regulations/environmental permits.
You will also be our internal prevention advisor. STUK must have at least level 3. If you have not yet obtained that diploma, you can take the course as soon as you start in STUK.
Knowledge about and interest in IT is an asset

You have an engineering, construction, architecture degree or equivalent through experience;
You have extensive materials knowledge and are always looking for innovation;
You are proactive, structured and efficient;
You are an organisational talent and a strong file manager;
You have a strong commitment to sustainability;
You are willing to attend training courses (Prevention Advisor, Public Procurement Legislation, drawing programmes,...);
You have a feel for the cultural sector and an interest in how STUK works.

The selection process
A reading committee composed of STUK staff will make a selection of the submissions.
If selected, we will contact you by phone no later than 14 August.
The first round of interviews will take place on Monday 25 August in the afternoon and Tuesday 26 August in the afternoon. The first interview will last about 45 min. You will speak to Steven Vandervelden (general & artistic director), Margaux Janssens (business director) and Erik Dehaes (facility manager). The aim of the interview is to get acquainted and to gauge your motivation, experience, knowledge and ambitions.
If selected for a second interview, it will take place on Tuesday 2 September in the morning or Wednesday 3 September in the morning.
