Everybody means both everyone and every body. In this ensemble piece for people with a physical disability, the Austrian choreographer Doris Uhlich creates individual and collective ‘energic dance forms’. Every body has specific possibilities to articulate its dynamics and physical joy. Movements are the fuel that charge the body. Every Body Electric is a radical invitation to explore this potential through the dance medium. What new possibilities open up when apparatus – such as wheelchairs, prostheses, and crutches – are not perceived as obstacles but as extensions of our bodies? Personal rhythms, dynamics and bodily characteristics lead to highly individual dance styles. Every Body Electric’s explosive power and tender poetry emanates from the way the bodies experience themselves, as well as how they are perceived.
