Hold on 2 your kicks

In recent years, STUK and Straatrijk have been working together on a regular basis to bring urban and contemporary dance closer together. We organised various editions of DansBAaR in STUKcafé, Open Stage as part of the Day of Dance, and Breakdance championships. This year we are taking a step further with the new initiative Hold on 2 your kicks. Through an open call, Straatrijk selected five choreographers at the intersection of urban dance and contemporary dance. They are given the opportunity to develop their own creation and are offered financial support, space, coaching and a testing ground. On 23 November, the five selected choreographers and collectives will show their results at STUK. Urban dance and contemporary dance have more in common than you might at first think.
