Electronica producer Loraine James (London) investigates the borders of UK garage, drill and other dance genres. Rugged rhythms, jazz harmonies and ambient influences are key elements of her intuitive collages that never get too comfortable. Her debut album For You And I (2019, Hyperdub) was the start of an international breakthrough. The pandemic that followed soon after led to musical and social introspection, resulting in her new record Reflection (2021). More subdued and vulnerable than before, James takes you on a journey through the world of a young black queer woman, diving deeper into the no man's land between club and listening music.
