promise me
promise me is an extremely physical and passionate performance devoted to bravery, courage, but also vitality and resistance. An ode to the untamed, the reckless, the brave - in a time when most people would prefer to insure themselves against everything. promise me is about letting go of certainties and taking risks. About stopping being indifferent and embracing the explosive forces of life. A performance about the longing for great things. But also about the scars they leave on our skin.
Kabinet k doesn't look for explanations, but examines the attitude and dynamics associated with 'recklessness'. promise me questions our fears and probes into what we have to lose. No matter how battered we come out of it, it pays to do something that you never did before and never dared to do. It is courage, curiosity, recklessness. It's like the Pipi Longstocking motto "I've never done it before, so I think I can do it."
After previous collaborations for rauw and horses, Thomas Devos once again takes care of the live music. He challenges the seven dancers - five children and two adults - to overcome their fear, out of sheer zest for life.
