RULE OF THREE is a cross between a concert, a hardcore nightclub, and a collection of short stories. With bodies, light, music, costumes, and text as autonomous forces, Jan Martens again makes a sharp analysis of the zeitgeist. RULE OF THREE celebrates our ability to quickly switch from one impression to another but also shows how an excess of stimuli results in a fragmentary experience of reality. Immerse yourself in an untamed meditation that – like our time – is based on contradictions: stillness and explosion, precision and intuition, passion and reason.
For RULE OF THREE Jan Martens works together with the American producer and drummer NAH. His eclectic music composition bears traces of DIY punk, noise, and avant-jazz and is bathed in the disquiet of hip-hop. Three multifaceted dancers interact with NAH’s live music, driving sensory stimulation to the limit.
