TO DA BONE
The young French collective (LA)HORDE is interested in the post-internet. The younger generation no longer reduces the Internet to a reflection of reality; it uses the virtual world as space for self-expression and artistic creation. Young people make dance clips at home, spreading them through social media. Thus short-lived dance trends and new dance styles, such as jumpstyle, go viral. But the Internet also has a critical potential: mobilising and instigating political and social resistance movements, such as the Arab Spring and #metoo.
TO DA BONE zooms in on gabber culture and hardstyle dances, such as jump and ‘hakken’, which are often seen on the internet but rarely on stage. Eleven self-taught ‘jumpers’ were recruited online from all over Europe. They perform a live choreography, brimming with enthusiasm.
