She worked as house dramaturg and production associate in the Netherlands (Theater aan de Rijn, Theater Rotterdam), the U.S. (Martin E. Segal Theatre Center, New York), and Türkiye (iDANS Festival, Istanbul). She earned a Ph.D. in Theatre and Performance at The Graduate Center, City University of New York (CUNY), focusing on the oeuvres of choreographers Pina Bausch, Eiko Otake, Mette Ingvartsen, Geumhyung Jeong, and Gisèle Vienne. Since her research stay in Belgium in 2019, Eylül has lectured on dance dramaturgy and theory at Flemish institutions such as Ghent University, KASK, P.A.R.T.S., and the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp. Her writing on performance has appeared in Etcetera and Performance Research, among others.
“I am excited to join the vibrant team at STUK, where artistic experimentation, social commitment, and care for diversity stand central. STUK is unique in nurturing artists across generations, stewarding heritage, and envisioning the future of dance. I am stepping in this role with ambitions to expand the boundaries of our discipline and invest in new audiences and collaborative partnerships. Though I am a newcomer to the Flemish scene, I feel deep belonging to its lineage as someone who bridges theory and practice, curating and mentoring, academic and public dialogue.”
Eylül took over from previous dance programmer Karen Joosten. We thank Karen for her great commitment and the contagious energy she has injected into STUK and the dance field over the past few years.
