Babylon Bar : Ammar 808 + Paddy Steer + Susobrino (dj)
A boiling arena for hybrid live acts blending global rhythms, improvisation & club culture
Welcome to Babylon Bar, a billowing arena for hybrid live acts without boundaries: inciting Maghreb beats or cosmic afro-futurism go hand in hand with experiment, improvisation and club culture.
The first edition welcomes the brand-new Sheikhs of North African futurism: Ammar 808. The Brussels-Tunisian trio led by Sofyann Ben Youssef revives the authentic Targ tradition from North-West Tunisia by combining it with ultra-low 808 bass sounds, powerful beats and raw distorted vocals. A wayward musical world, enhanced by the visuals of VJ Sia Rosenberg.
Visionary musician Paddy Steer is known for out-of-this-world explosions of lo-fi pop, new age, acid jazz and cosmic funk. Dressed like a futuristic shaman, this Manchester-based one-man band creates insane live performances. With a bizarre set-up of percussion instruments and home-made synths, Paddy Steer rages like a euphoric toddler with a new set of crayons.
