The dark sci-fi gem Donnie Darko (2001) grew almost entirely through word of mouth to become one of the cult films of the early 2000s. Director Richard Kelly's debut initially made a rather unmemorable appearance in cinemas. Released barely two months after 9/11 and with promotion centred on a plane crash, the film seemed doomed to failure from the outset. Despite this difficult start, Donnie Darko became a real underground hit on DVD and grew into a must-see for any film lover with a nose for eccentric cinema. The renowned Belgian ensemble BL!NDMAN [sax] will bring a new soundtrack composed by Eric Sleichim with four saxophones, electronics, guitar and turntables.

With BL!NDMAN, I want to emphasise the different storylines without falling into the clichés of a traditional horror film soundtrack. The typical eighties songs (Duran Duran, Echo & the Bunnymen, Joy Division, etc.) will of course be retained as such. It is an arsenal of instruments (saxophones, percussion, turntables, electronics, etc.) that will give the film's sound a physical presence. The musicians on stage are part of another parallel world, a tribe elsewhere in time and space." - Eric Sleichim
