De klimaattop van Parijs: wat staat er op het spel?
Lecture/debate in Dutch
From November 30 to December 11, the 21st UN Conference on Climate Change takes place in Paris. The stakes are huge. In 2009, the Copenhagen summit created great expectations. However, the summit ended in a fiasco, and hardly any progress has been made since. Paris offers a second chance to finally reach an international and binding climate agreement that halts global warming and limits the damage. But will it succeed? And are we in time? After all, the climate convention might only come into force in 2020. The international climate movement will add as much pressure as possible in Paris. Belgium sends no less than 10.000 people to raise their voice on the streets. Will Paris meet the huge expectations?
