Under Construction
A strange dance between vulnerability and mechanics.
With dance, sculptures and video installations, Geumhyung Jeong explores the boundary between human and machine. Jeong constructs robot-like figures from medical dummies, skeletal models and technical components that move awkwardly, almost humanly.
The result is a strange choreography of vulnerability and mechanics. Jeong’s figures are not perfect robots; instead, they reveal human limits like failure, desire, and the search for connection. With a background in choreography and a fascination for technology and objects, she transforms the space into a creative workshop in which the sculptures truly come to life. Under Construction offers an honest, confrontational look at how technology shapes us in a world driven by constant progress.
The idea of building the body function of the [robot]sculptures started with copying human movements, but their movements show how obviously machine they are. I find it cute when they try to move like humans but in their own way.

This performance is connected to the central theme of STUK’s 2026–2027 dance season: algorithms.
For the first time, STUK’s dance programme is built around a common thread running throughout the season. The theme of algorithms recurs across several performances. These performances help us understand what algorithms are and what they do. They not only showcase the latest applications of (digital) algorithms in the arts, but also actively contribute to the ongoing debate surrounding them.
Evening performances start at 20:00
from the 26-27 season onwards.
