Edition number 13 of Elsewhere takes place in the gothic Sint-Antonius Chapel, best known as the final resting place of Father Damien. We welcome sax player Lea Bertucci, who will work with the echoing acoustics of the chapel.

New York-based composer and improviser Lea Bertucci brings minimalistic sound explorations with alt saxophone or bass clarinet. Her sound is characterized by enchanting patterns, feedback and piercing drones, always interacting with the acoustics of the room she plays in. In Leuven, Bertucci will bring her audiovisual performance Projection/Reflection: a projector sheds a light beam on a reflective patch on the performer’s back, creating a fascinating reflection on the wall behind her.

Miaux is the alter ego of Antwerp-based, Sarajevo-born musician Mia Prce. Armed with nothing but a Casio keyboard, she creates melancholic and timeless compositions that sound like the mysterious soundtrack to a forgotten film. Her third album Black Space White Cloud was released in September on Ultra Eczema. Especially for Elsewhere, Miaux will translate a couple of her compositions for the organ of the Sint-Antonius Chapel

Elsewhere is an initiatieve of STUK, 30CC, Erfgoedcel Leuven & KU Leuven Culture.

“Fresh and exhilarating connection through sound with the nuances of space and the variegated grain of reality”
