Emma Ruth Rundle / Venediktos Tempelboom [CANCELLED]
"It is with the utmost regret that Emma Ruth Rundle, in order to prioritize her health, has to pull out of her shows in Europe in early February."
This means Emma's concert in STUK cannot take place. There will be no new date, the entire concert night is cancelled.
All tickets will be refunded.
We wish Emma all the best.
• Venediktos Tempelboom
Ghent wanderer Benoit Monsieurs aka Venediktos Tempelboom performs melancholic guitar strumming in the tradition of American folk-primitivists John Fahey and Robbie Basho, but rooted in the misty Flemish fields. With his twelve-string guitar, Tempelboom fancies himself a medieval troubadour in search of the mystical and meditative. His latest album Syne Vuyle Hoeck was recently released on KRAAK and recalls the best of Ignatz or Six Organs of Admittance.
• Emma Ruth Rundle
American artist and singer Emma Ruth Rundle keeps reinventing herself. From her hometown of Portland, Oregon, she is building a majestic body of work on the fringes of folk, metal, drone and experimental guitar music. With a background as a visual artist, she also creates a visual atmosphere that is raw and gothic. Ruth Rundle became best known for her richly arranged albums and impressive live shows with band. Since her album Engine of Hell, however, she has taken a different path, with stripped-down compositions for voice, piano and guitar where vulnerability and deep introspection take centre stage. The live version of this album, brought to Roadburn in 2022, is an absolute goosebump record. What is less well known about Emma Ruth Rundle is that over the past decade she has also worked on experimental albums for electric guitar: Electric Guitar One (2014) and EG2: Dowsing Voice (2022). In the latter, she moves into an alien realm, where characters, myths and invented languages tell a story of life, death and rebirth. At STUK, she will play an experimental set with compositions for guitar, voice and effects with cosmic allure.
