A singer, a clarinettist, and a sound artist deliver an ode to anarchy with an explosive burst of festive energy
Brace yourself, lift your head, clear your throat, because it’s time for a festive energy blast. Almost a hundred years ago, Spanish teacher José Antonio Emmanuel published the manifesto Anarchy Explained to Children. He wrote that life should be free and spontaneous, without restrictions. That’s exactly what singer Junior Akwety, sound artist Jochem Baelus, and clarinettist Lotte Vanhamel bring to life in FEST: they create a fresh, uninhibited world and call for musical anarchy. From ritual percussion to enchanting voices, from distorted soundscapes to sonic explosions. The trio draws inspiration from songs from Junior’s homeland, Congo, and infuse their performance with touches of rumba, banto, deephouse, hip-hop and rap. Get ready for a musical celebration and a positive revolution that inspires both children and adults.
