A revival of an iconic solo about the hypnotic power of politically radical speeches.
This iconic solo defines the artistic essence of dance company Voetvolk: the symbiosis between movement and music, the subtle yet sharply defined dialogue between dance and sound. Lisbeth Gruwez dances the trance of the ecstatic preaching of the ultraconservative American televangelist Jimmy Swaggart.
She embodies the archetype of the great orator while dismantling the state of passionate ecstasy. Fifteen years after its premiere, this groundbreaking performance remains as relevant as ever.
