Jazz op zondag : fall 2020

Sundays are for jazz: every Sunday evening, you can enjoy a free jazz concert in STUKcafé with a mix of young talent, household names and exciting sounds from local and international artists.

Due to the Security Counsil's decision to close all bars and restaurants, and the Federal Government's decision to stop all cultural activities until December 13, we cancel the Jazz concerts on these dates:

27.9 • Egor Doubay Quartet

The Egor Doubay Quartet started as a one-time band, but has been going strong for four years already, with regular gigs in De Muze in Antwerp and other venues. The quartet plays music from the standard jazz repertory and modern compositions by contemporary artists.

4.10 • Caskroket

Caskroket is a Ghent-based band with a love for cheese croquettes. The musicians met during their studies at the Ghent conservatory.

11.10 • Tobias Volckaert invites

Bill Evans tribute

This four-piece band, led by Tobias Volckaert, brings a selection from the rich and diverse oeuvre of legendary pianist Bill Evans. A mix of original compositions and pieces that are inseparable from the jazz legend, a tribute with fresh interpretations of well-known and lesser known pieces.

Woolvs is a Brussels-based avant-garde rock band. They play DYI songs starting from minimalist stories with a love for crunchy experiment.

All The Gin Joints creates a cosy jazzy atmosphere with cracking vinyl on decks and a gin & tonic in hand. A mix of the best jazz records of the 50s and 60s, interspersed with some good old swing.

8.11 • Collision

Four passionate young jazz musicians meeting late 2019 was the starting point of Collision. They played their first gig in February 2020 and immediately captivated the crowd. Their repertoire swings from own compositions to pieces by Belgian and international musicians they appreciate and admire: Peter Hertmans, Olivier Collette, Tineke Postma, Martijn Van Iterson, Joshua Redman, Pat Metheny ...

Can you hear the new sound of the city? Freshly squeezed Glasshelder at your service!

These four friends study jazz at the Royal Conservatory in Antwerp but met at the Brussels Art High School. The culture mix of the metropole is transposed in their music: a danceable hotpot of jazz, hiphop and house. Their soundbites are packed with tight rhythms, touching melodies and exciting impro, sometimes aided by punchy raps and heartfelt vocals. Their plan: winning over your heart. Always live, always Glasshelder.
