Level

Temporary sound artwork in the city park of Leuven that makes five voices resonate into a spatial harmony.

You walk through the Sint-Donatuspark in Leuven, and you encounter five glass pillars. From within each pillar comes the sound of a singing voice - sometimes barely audible, sometimes loud and packed with energy. While you stroll between the pillars, you hear the separate voices as one dazing harmonic cloud. The musical cohesion goes from pleasant and consonant to sharply dissonant.

The sound installation Level by Dutch artist Bouke Groen is a serene ode to the joy of singing together, something we sadly have to miss in these difficult times. Drop by in the city park to discover the installation, let the harmonies surround you, hum along from behind your face mask, and enjoy a safe musical experience in the open air.
