Thomas Turine is a Brussels-based composer, musician, sound designer, dj and producer. His eclectic musical universe is on the crossroads of electronic music, pop rock, baroque and contemporary classical music. Turine regularly collaborates with choreographers and film or theatre directors on the music and soundscapes for their productions.

During the Studio STUK closing night he will get the Melting Pot audience in the mood with a mix of world and electronic music, Baile funk, New Perreo, Dem bow, ...

In Melting Pot choreographer and dance teacher Marco Torrice brings dansers of different styles together to voice or get rid of all kinds of emotions: happiness, sensuality, anger, frustration, ...

Melting Pot is something between performance and recreative space, combining several approaches of performing: the frontal contemplation of a dance performance, the improvisation of street dance, the 'happening' of a participative performance where audience and performers blend.

The cast is a mix of academically trained and autodidactic actors and dancers, with a background in different styles - from contemporary dance to hip hop freestyle. DJ sets are interspersed with compositions; world music and electronic music go hand in hand. The music tries to make the exchange easier and create a feeling of trust. This will definitely turn into a party!

Rrita Jashari is one of the founders of Brussels collectives 54KOLAKTIV and 54 Sound, a hand-made Jamaican style soundsystem. Recently she also became curator for VK Concerts in Molenbeek and resident dj at Kiosk Radio. Her dj sets are all about discovering, with sounds from several decades and areas, from experimental to poppy dance and from ethnic to underground. No music purism!

In the screening room you can enjoy Undercurrent 528, a filmic trip looking for portals of care and intimacy, and the healing power of sound. This work by Nigerian-British artist and energy worker Evan Ifekoya can be understood as an ode to the work of American avant garde filmmaker Stephen Dwoskin in a re-interpretation of themes that were close to him: care, desire and everyday rituals.
