Rosas danst Rosas marked the international breakthrough of Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker in 1983. Since then, it has become a landmark in the history of postmodern dance. Rosas danst Rosas builds on the minimalism first explored in Fase, Four Movements to the Music of Steve Reich (1982): sharp movements that sculpt the space are layered through repetition. Their intensity is counterbalanced by everyday gestures that interrogate femininity. Over the years, the performance has been performed nearly 500 times, by 28 dancers across five different generations.
