You can visit this installation from Thursday 7 to Wednesday 20 March, from 10:00 to 21:00.
This installation pours a collective future out of a compilation of individual dreams. Through an interactive audio experience, visitors are invited to imagine and voice their best possible future*. All contributions are continuously fused by artificial intelligence - the core of RUMOR. In doing so, playField presents an attempt to find the collective again in a very individualistic society. Does private desire still have a place in the collective dream? Or must there be concessions here and there?
RUMOR asks whether artificial intelligence can offer an alternative to our current democratic system. Can AI be used to counter polarisation? Are we evolving towards a democracy 2.0 with AI in hand?
This project has roots in the idea that an image of a future, different world clashes with our current world. A dream for what is yet to come is also the announcement of change. And where there is difference, it chafes. What if it turns out that one person's dream is another person's nightmare?
Inside RUMOR, the spectator is guided to imagine positive change and, by articulating this image*, make it more existential. Afterwards, visitors can access the collective dream via an interactive 3D simulation. What does it sound like? Is what we would like far from what we actually expect? What are we willing to do to make our dreams come true and adjust the current course?
*RUMOR is an AI that converts the voiced future dreams from speech to text, after which the recordings are deleted and the wishes remain anonymous.
