STUKswing with liveband: Jake Walker Trio
Warm up those dancing legs for a third edition of STUKswing! The Leuven Hoppers invite Jake Walker Trio for an evening of swing of the highest order. Normally playing as a septet, these musicians know how to put a dance floor ‘on fire’ and bring you the ins & outs of jazz swing music.
Wouter Van den Broeck - piano
is the musical director of Jake Walker Septet and a much sought-after swing pianist in Belgium. He is part of the house band of The Sounds in Brussels and has his own quintet and trio under the pseudonym don Marsh, combining his love of improvisation and classical music.
Pieter Mortier - double bass
is the swing bass player par excellence in Ghent. He has played in dozens of groups, ranging from gipsy jazz to New Orleans and chanson. With a sense of entrepreneurship, he is at the forefront of several socially engaged and interdisciplinary projects in Ghent.
Simon Raman - drums
is a true musical polymath. His dynamic presence is felt in the vibrant Ghent scene, with engagements ranging from the avant-garde jazz trio Steiger, the experimental pop bands Uma Chine and Peenoise to Kobe Boon's Mos ensemble.

Free entry
We like to keep the party low key and accessible to anyone who wants to enjoy good music and lots of dancing. Therefore, we do not charge an entrance fee but we do go around with the hat to cover the cost of the band. A warm request to donate generously so that we can continue to organise these events. (Via cash or a payment app on your phone.)
About the Leuven Hoppers
This company dances lindy hop, a swing partner dance that originated in the 1920s and remained popular in the decades that followed. The hoppers mainly provide a low-threshold swing party in the STUKcafé. For everyone who has a bean for pure jazz vibes to the tones of Ella Fitzegerald, Count Basie and Louis Armstrong, among others.
