Through the Grapevine is a distinctive pas de deux between two men. Performers Alexander Vantournhout and Axel Guérin present their bodies, stripped of any frills. They are trained but perhaps not what Instagram might deem ‘perfect’. Likewise, they are not looking to impress with virtuoso movements. Their athletic bodies gradually collide with their physical limitations, they discover the strengths and the weaknesses of their own specific physique. Together, with great effort, concentration and humour, the performers search for balance, equilibrium and harmony. Through uninterrupted mutual contact, the synergy between touching and being touched unfolds as the base melody of the performance.

Alexander Vantournhout previously presented ANECKXANDER (2016), Raphael (2017), Red Haired Men (2018) and Screws (2021) in STUK. A common thread in his work is his search for the creative, kinetic potential of physical limits of the body in all its purity.
