Anneleen Keppens - Lullabye
18.05.2026 — 29.05.2026
A lullaby is a gentle form through which difficult things can be expressed, a loving gesture that helps us embrace what is dark or unknown. In the solo performance Lullabye, Anneleen Keppens dances, embodies and sings lullabies about the ambivalence of motherhood and other care practices.
The movement in Lullabye emerges from a caring body. This body fluctuates between carrying and resting, rocking and falling, singing and growling. Strength and vulnerability are so tightly intertwined that they become impossible to distinguish.
Through a scenography that unfolds as a space of rest and support, Lullabye imagines a social fabric in which those who carry in our society are themselves carried. The performance explores the impact of care on a life, while at the same time softening, comforting and connecting.
During the residency in STUK, the team will be working on the development of the scenography by making small scale models and experimenting with different textures and materials.

Anneleen Keppens graduated from P.A.R.T.S./Brussels in 2010 and works as a choreographer, dancer, artistic collaborator, and teacher. In these various roles, she explores ways of being together through the body and movement. Her work lives in the gap between formal and informal, transparent and mystical, soft and hard, physical and metaphysical. She created the performances The moon is the moon is the moon (2017), Movement Essays (2019), and Blue Moon Spring (2023). She also develops the practice Body Dialogues, in which she engages in conversations with and about the body with various artists across different disciplines and media. Currently, she is working on a publication titled Mother/Maker, and is an artist in residence at De Weister, a care home in Aalbeke, in the frame of Woon.Zorg.Kunst. Anneleen has worked as a dancer for Rosas, Hiatus/Daniel Linehan and others. She has taught workshops in Artesis Hogeschool, PARTS SummerSchool, La Raffinerie/Charleroi Danse and INSAS.
