Daniel Linehan / Hiatus - The Wonder Of it All

08.09.2025 — 12.09.2025

With The Wonder Of It All, Daniel Linehan wants to evoke a state of wonder. Freed from everyday life and social structures, five dancers surrender to memories, imagination, and unbridled movement. Their dance explores a state of ecstasy in which they connect with their ancestors and nature. The audience sits around the dancers and is taken on a journey through mysterious Dionysian rituals and techno raves. Not an escape from reality, but an invitation to embrace new possibilities.

The Wonder Of it All makes us rediscover the sensitivity and connectedness we have lost along the way. Especially in these times of polarization, this is more urgent than ever.

Hiatus is a Brussels-based contemporary dance company under the artistic direction of choreographer Daniel Linehan. Hiatus creates dance productions and workshops. Hiatus aims to create space for exchanges and connections in the here and now. The focus is on our physical, social and ecological environment, in a theatre, a studio or outside. Hiatus actively asks questions, listens and responds, emphasising the value of creative processes and public experiences.

With his choreographies, Daniel Linehan walks the fine line that distinguishes dance from everything else. He creates performances from the perspective of a curious amateur, testing interactions between dance and non-dance, searching for unusual combinations, contrasts and parallels. Linehan studied dance in Seattle and New York. In 2008, he moved to Brussels, where he completed the Research Cycle at P.A.R.T.S. and founded his dance company Hiatus in 2018. He has created 19 dance performances, a book and numerous workshops.
