Katinka de Jonge, Laurens Mariën, Zoë Brennan, Marie Malingreau - DE HOOP

For the third edition of Zomertank, Werktank invited Katinka de Jonge, Laurens Mariën, Zoë Brennan and Marie Malingreau to organise a project in Sint-Maartensdal (Leuven).

With DE HOOP, a nomadic garden was created to produce all the ingredients needed to make French fries with mayonnaise. All ingredients are grown in separate 'modules' that find a place in people's homes or organisations. On 21 September, the results will be presented at a grand 'harvest festival' in Sint-Maartensdal.

A public programme of workshops and lectures in which the garden is used as a metaphor for thinking about ecology and living together, but also as an instrument to shape a collective imagination, frames the project.

DE HOOP is a project of Werktank, with the support of Buurtcentrum Sint Maartensdal, Cas-co and STUK.

Katinka de Jonge: has collaborated with Werktank in the past and is currently working on a doctorate at Hasselt University where she will research which collaborative models and methods can be used in an artistic process.

Laurens Mariën: is a performing and visual artist, initiator and curator. In his projects, all these roles often overlap or are distilled down to one or more of them in order to create total projects together with other artists. Laurens Mariën has worked with director and performer Benjamin Abel Meirhaeghe on several productions and his first opera 'A Revue'. Mariën is also the founder of Nein, the organization with which he has been organizing various artistic happenings since 2013.

Zoë Brennan: Is a multidisciplinary artist and designer from Bristol (UK) who focuses on the research of new and playful ways to process and interpret information. Brennan has worked on projects in public space and puts the viewer at the center of her projects. Brennan has collaborated in the artistic festival Horst, among others.

Marie Malingreau: is a master in architecture who focuses on design and illustration.
