Marc Vanrunxt - For Blinky Palermo

06.10.2025 — 15.10.2025

Marc Vanrunxt and Robson Ledesma work on the movement material of a split screen performance.

For Blinky Palermo is a split screen/split stage dance performance by Marc Vanrunxt, Georgia Vardarou, Julia Rubies Subiros and Robson Ledesma.

The soundtrack – also split – is created by composers and sound designers Raphael Malfliet and Daniel Vanverre.

After a residency at c o r s o (Berchem), Marc and Robson will move to STUK in Leuven. Georgia and Julia will work in parallel in Barcelona, at the cultural centre of La Barceloneta.

At the end of November, everything will come together during a joint residency at STUK.

By then, Stef Alleweireldt will also join them, with a lighting design for both parts. The premiere will take place during December Dance in Bruges, followed by a performance in the Soetezaal at STUK on 11 December.

At the time of writing, the broad structure of Marc and Robson's part is clear. They don't know how things are going in Barcelona – and vice versa.

During their residency at STUK, Marc and Robson will further refine and deepen the movement material. Continuing to search remains essential, but so does making decisions.

In the mornings, the focus is on details, intentions and transitions. Every afternoon, Robson dances the entire piece for Marc. This brings them closer to the core of the performance, inspired by Vanrunxt's own mantra:

every performance is a rehearsal
every rehearsal is a performance

Marc Vanrunxt is a choreographer and dancer. He explores the boundaries of dance as a medium and choreography as a language, taking into account the possibilities of the body. In his work, he attempts to redefine concepts such as time, space, energy and presence. Vanrunxt's oeuvre revolves around contrasts such as visible/invisible and tangible/intangible. His artistic vocabulary has its roots in the punk movement and abstract expressionism.
