On stage is a house. It emits wisps of colourful smoke and, a little later, a man, bin bag in hand, ready to put the rubbish out. Strange creatures circle the house, half human, half object. Twelve years after the premiere of Springville, Miet Warlop is revisiting the performance, renamed After All Springville, as a memory she wishes to relive, or as a song she wants to cover with a new group of performers. Sometimes you want to say something again, years later. Perhaps because the questions remain unresolved, or because in the meantime you’ve grown older and experienced other things, or simply to relive the pleasure. Miet Warlop combines the devastation left in the wake of a natural disaster with the relief of slapstick or a cartoon.
