What would a Transit opening concert be without a few stark contrasts?

The Talea Ensemble from New York will give this programme a trans-Atlantic character, presenting composers from several generations and from both sides of the ocean. We are eagerly looking forward to the world premiere by contemporary European figurehead Georges Aperghis (who is celebrating his 75th birthday this year). He wrote Wild Romance for the combined talents of Talea and his favourite soprano Donatienne Michel-Dansac. The Americans will bring something from home, by Anthony Cheung (also the ensemble’s pianist), while Luc Brewaeys will give the programme a Flemish accent. Pièce de résistance is the phenomenal percussion concerto Δικη. Wall by Pierluigi Billone, one of new music’s rising stars, who will have his Transit debut as well.
