Ghent-based composer and vocalist Annelies Monseré has been making music since 2000. Her compositions are slow, repetitive and seemingly simple, her voice is whispery and introverted. Drone, folk, slowcore and early music collide in a timeless sound universe. Her latest album I Sigh, I Resign was released on the internationally renowned (Belgian) label Stroom and is once again vintage Annelies Monseré: repeating piano and organ-like keyboard patterns support mysterious vocals. New, however, are the driving drum rhythms and contributions by other musicians. Monseré is undoubtedly one of Belgium’s best-kept musical secrets.

We at STUK love Ben Frost so much that we simply invite him back every decade: in 2007, in 2014 and now again in 2024. The Australian, Icelandic-based composer has been developing his raw, intense sound fusing black metal, ambient, industrial and post-classical minimalism for more than two decades. In his sixth and most recent album, Scope Neglect, this interest in heavy metal comes to a culmination point with the collaboration with Car Bomb guitarist Greg Kubacki. Pitchfork describes this explosive music as ‘a claustrophobic landscape out of chugging metal riffs’. Meanwhile, Frost also remains active as a composer for series and films, including Netflix's Dark and 1899, and also creates immersive sound installations. At STUK, he will perform a mind blowing audiovisual live show.
