Bodies at Work. Lisbeth Gruwez & Maarten Van Cauwenberghe / Voetvolk
Go for a highly personal way of moving, propelled by the spontaneous live musical score.
In dialogue with the group in front, Lisbeth Gruwez and Maarten Van Cauwenberghe explore how to prepare the body, how to generate movement material, and how to create. They offer a variety of tools and skills enabling you to develop your own dance material and build capacities to create movement in a very personal way, beyond the limits of imagination. Lisbeth Gruwez is accompanied by Maarten Van Cauwenberghe, who creates an instantaneous musical score, tailored to the group. Their innate enthusiasm facilitates an open atmosphere — everyone is welcome.
In 2006, choreographer Lisbeth Gruwez and musician and composer Maarten Van Cauwenberghe founded Voetvolk (Dutch for ‘infantry’), their own contemporary dance company. Their work is the quintessential artistic expression of an inspired body in response to the complexity of life and the world. Voetvolk are committed to creating dance performances that resonate with diverse audiences, including connoisseurs and critics, through a dance language that conveys a way of 'being in life'. The work of Voetvolk is characterised by an expressive, sensitive, adventurous yet accessible dance language, detailed visual imagery and a subtle yet sharply defined dialogue between dance and sound design. Lisbeth Gruwez and Maarten Van Cauwenberghe share a unique artistic DNA that has been developed both consciously and intuitively. The interaction between the two is pure chemistry.
