BREAKFASTCLUB
BREAKFASTCLUB is an encounter that brings together an artistic proposal and its audience at an unusual time of day. In this extraordinary energy, new ways of sharing, viewing, and experiencing become possible. The concept, created by Gouvernement, combines presentations by artists with a moderated public discussion on the themes evoked by the works on display.
This edition focuses on disrupting notions of normality: What is a normal artwork, a normal artist, audience member, or institution? How do these norms blur? We reflect on what is considered normal, not just for the individual, but also within the arts, a playground for such norms.
After an intervention by Diederik Peeters, whose work inspired this edition, we watch Amari's short film Show Girl, which takes a fascination with strip clubs as its starting point. Together with the questions that form the foundation of this BREAKFASTCLUB, this inspires a conversation with multimedia artist Shervin/e Sheikh Rezaei and others. Multidisciplinary artist Stine Sampers will moderate the discussion.
