Consouling presents: Slumberland + YODOK III

Melancholic drone rock and an installation-concert: two new release on the label Consouling Sounds presented in premiere.

For over ten years, Ghent-based label Consouling Sounds has been a haven for qualitative releases in postrock, doom and ambient. In STUK they premiere two new albums by Slumberland and YODOK III.

Belgian trio Slumberland is a project of musician and filmmaker Jochem Baelus (former member of Echo Beatty). For years now, Baelus has been building an impressive wooden construction with the most diversely sounding instruments attached to it: hair dryer-drive harmonicas, oddly shaped knitting needles, super 8 projectors and an assembly of drum and sewing machines. Boundaries between experimental rock, instrument building and installation art? Not for Baelus. He is joined live by the repetitive rhythms of drummers Frederik Meulyzer and Flying Horseman’s Alfredo Bravo. For their second album, out in February 2019, they got help from Radwan Ghazi Moumneh of Jerusalem In My Heart.

Swedish-Norwegian-Belgian trio YODOK III features an unusual combination of drum, tuba and guitar (Dirk Serries!). They play long, drawn out compositions, building up ecstatically around a dense harmonic cloud, opening all the floodgates between drone rock, free improvisation and minimalism. Their new album will be released in January 2019 and is presented in Belgian premiere.

This double bill is a perfect match with Leuven-based Radio Scorpio. Therefore, they will broadcast the entire show live on 106 FM, and Scorpio host De Geluidsarchitect will dj before and after the shows.
