Elsewhere #10: Hannah Epperson + AUDRI

Tenth edition of Elsewhere dedicated to female vocalists with an ear for electronics

Canadian violinist and singer songwriter Hannah Epperson is no stranger for the Leuven listeners. Last summer she surprised everyone with a fabulous sold-out show in Museum M's Baramuze. STUK and 30CC are happy to bring her back to Leuven. After a classical education, Hannah Epperson learned to play the fiddle. She brings violin-based indie pop, aided by her loopstation, and has a startingly beautiful voice. After collaborating with Julianna Barwick (who played at STUK before) and Porcelain Raft, her solo debut Upsweep proved she can amaze crowds on her own as well. This year saw the release of second album Slowdown, an album that again has a very interesting composition, combining two versions of every song. It's as if you're listening to two different characters: Amelia brings pop songs, Iris performs them in a classical version.

Singer-songwriter AUDRI is a well-known figure as well, especially in her hometown Leuven. Her combination of smooth jazz vocals and subtle electronica made her 2016's Most Promising Artist at the Bull Elektropedia Awards. First single Midsummer is a dreamy sepia-coloured summer tune, announcing a debut EP about to drop this October.

For the tenth time, STUK, 30CC, Erfgoedcel Leuven & KU Leuven Culture bring music to unique Leuven locations rich with history.

STELPLAATS is a temporary interpretation of the former De Lijn depot, close the the Leuven railway station. In many ways it's a bit of an outsider in the Elsewhere series: you won't find medieval foundations or artefacts, and the household has little historic value. It's a rather rough building that, despite its new interpretation, is still a silent witness of the time it saw a daily passage of roaring motors and resting busdrivers.

Since the spring of 2018 a new, young wave has hit the many halls and rooms of the building. STELPLAATS is now a temporary home for several youth initiatives that can fully experiment with ideas and concepts. It houses a wood and metal atelier, a skate park, rehearsal spaces for young musicians, a silkscreen atelier, ... and tons of events. On November 13 we turn the main hall, with its typical slots the most iconic part of the building, into a temporary, intimate concert hall.
