Elsewhere #12 in Zwartzuster Chapel: Mary Lattimore + Adriaan De Roover
Melancholic double bill with harp and electronics in a baroque setting.
Elsewhere presents stilled Sunday night music on historic locations in Leuven. The 12th edition will take place in the baroque Zwartzuster Chapel, and features American harp player Mary Lattimore and former Oaktree frontman singer Adriaan De Roover, who presents his debut solo album.
Mary Lattimore is a Los Angeles-based musician and composer whose concert harp creates ice cold sound landscapes littered with vague memories and evocations. Using electronic effects, she re-interprets the age old instrument. Last year saw the release of her second LP Hundreds of Days, a wide scope of blurry harp melodies.
In recent years, Antwerp-based Adriaan De Roover has been releasing a fresh mix of post-classical, ambient and electronics under the Oaktree moniker. Now he is back with Leaves, a wonderful first album under his own name. Expect autumn listening compositions full of enchanting harmonies, grainy hisses and rippling breakbeats. For fans of Four Tet or Fennesz - performed with live drums.
Elsewhere is an initiative of STUK, 30CC, Erfgoedcel Leuven & KU Leuven Culture. Elsewhere #12 in partnership with 25 years Toutpartout.
“The harp innovator experiments with an arsenal of new instruments - including her voice - on an album of ambient music as complex and meditative as the work of Pauline Oliveros.”
"Oaktree intends to bridge the gap between the club and the bedroom, sound system and headphones."
