Into a Silent World
Circles in the sand by a spinning car in a desolate white desert.
During STUK START, Argentinian born - Amsterdam based visual artist Sebastián Díaz Morales will be showing his most recent work Into A Silent World (2019).Upon the screen, we see a car in a white earth desert. Filmed from a great height and in a fixed shot the car enters the plane and begins to spin. Raising the white soil-dust, the car marks the smooth surface with disconnected - seemingly choreographed - circles. Only the bass of the engine noise is heard.
The work is part of an eight-sequence long installation Talk With Dust (2018-2019) which, together with Pasajes I-V will be the subject of Díaz Morales’ forthcoming solo exhibition at STUK, opening on October 16, 2019.
