“Would you like to do something with one of my poems? Reciting or singing, or both, as an experiment? One of my poems in Dutch, by you, I think that could really work!"

It started with a tentative Instagram message, but by now Brussels' night poet Alex Deforce and Belgian-New-York musician & vocalist Charlotte Jacobs released their first album Kwart Voor Straks on the Stroom label. Rarely have music and poetry found such a symbiosis in our language: Deforce's slow reveries on the one hand, with the excellently produced vocal effects by Jacobs on the other. With added theatrical dramaturgy, the live performance transcends a regular concert, with moments of silence, outbursts, projection and multi-channel sound.

Maria Iskariot is the patroness of debatable actions. Semi-adult female punk rock from Flanders. Hopeful hopelessness in noisy verse, chorus, verse. Love for the unloved, figs after Easter, but first and foremost a genuflection for the sinners. In December 2023 they were crowned laureate of the third edition of Sound Track. Their first EP EN/EN will be released this spring on the Dutch label Burning Fik.
