Jazz-collector en -liefhebber Lander Lenaerts aka The Jazz Kid neemt ons mee op sleeptouw voor een laid-back avond met al wat jazz te bieden heeft.

8.12 • SAMALI

Samali are four upcoming musicians who share an interest in new and border-crossing sounds. With a mix of their own work, jazz traditions and improvisation, they experiment with complex rhythms and melodic structures that are challenging as well as inviting. Lennert Baerts, Karel Cuelenaere, Cyrille Obermüller and Jesse Dockx all play in other projects as well, such as John Ghost, HAST, Orbit Folks, Black Flower, Mamutrio and many more.

1.12 • JAZZ OP ZONDAG invites LUCA JAZZ

Jam session with the jazz department of LUCA – Campus Lemmensinstituut from Leuven, a small and dynamic department of one of the four Flemish institutes for higher music education. The department was established in 1985 by a.o. Bert Joris and Free Desmyter, and has become a household name in the Belgian jazz scene.

22.9 • REMEMBER PEPPI

Remember Peppi is the reunion of 5 fearless improvisers who met in the underground Belgium jazz scenes and developed their interest for the improvisation playing in Berlin in the well known unique Peppi Guggenheim venue.

Expect the unexpected, something different, original and fun!

After our free opening festival STUK START we take it slow for the second Jazz op zondag of the season. Jazz collector, lover and connoisseur Lander Lenaerts aka The Jazz Kid takes us on a musical journey filled with laid-back jazz tunes from all parts of the jazz world.

6.10 • LORENZO OLA QUARTET

Lorenzo Ola studied at the Antwerp Conservatory. With his new band, hew plays a mix of own compositions and standards.

3.11 • EMIL DE WAAL & GUSTAF LJUNGGREN

Look who's back! Those who know, will be there. Those who have yet to discover them, will not forget easily. Two phenomenal Danish musicians with a a long service record who return to STUK every year with new variations of their rich musical universe. An absolute must.

10.11 • ALL THE GIN JOINTS (DJ)

All The Gin Joints creates a cosy jazzy atmosphere with cracking vinyl on the decks and a gin & tonic in hand. A mix of the best jazz records of the 50s and 60s, with room for a little good old swing.

17.11 • THIBAUT DERYCKERE QUINTET

Thibaut has been a piano player since a very young age. At 15 he already took classes at MUDA, followed by studies at de!Kunsthumaniora in Antwerp. Among his teachers were people like Werner Meert and Ewout Pierreux. Now, he studies at the Antwerp Conservatory. On Sunday November 17, he and his quintet will bring their own compositions in STUKcafé!

24.11 • STERRENKONING

Sterrenkoning is a producers duo making spacy hip hop and jazz vibes. Equipped with their saxophone, effects, midi controllers and synths they play a chill and bouncy live set. Both musicians studied together in high school and conservatory. They are well tuned in to each and that makes for interesting improvisations.
