La Ronde
A dizzying play of circles, spirals, outbursts, and stillness.
La Ronde explores circular and spiralling movement structured around the idea of ‘anti-flow’: harmony, dissonance, oscillation, jumps and rapid turns are juxtaposed. Two dancers cut across the stage in bursts and suspensions, moving in multiple directions at once, as if pulled through a spatial force.
The music in the performance includes post-punk sounds and an organ composition by Maxime Denuc. It moves between the driving pulse of club music and the vibrating resonance of the organ.
La Ronde unfolds a chain of relationships in which roles, intentions, and desires lead to new encounters.
This performance is connected to the central theme of STUK’s 2026–2027 dance season: algorithms.
For the first time, STUK’s dance programme is built around a common thread running throughout the season. The theme of algorithms recurs across several performances. These performances help us understand what algorithms are and what they do. They not only showcase the latest applications of (digital) algorithms in the arts, but also actively contribute to the ongoing debate surrounding them.
