Nomad [CANCELLED]

Nomad is Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui’s fourth piece set to the Middle-Eastern inspired music by Felix Buxton of Basement Jaxx and both a metaphor for ultimate freedom and the impossibility of survival.

STUK closes its doors and cancels all public events until December 13, as a result of the measures imposed by the Federal Government on October 30, and out of solidarity with everyone fighting COVID-19. All ticket holders will be contacted directly.

Take care, and stay safe.

In Nomad, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui reveals a mosaic of the desert’s living and inanimate elements. We get impressions of the fluidity and adaptability of creatures that thrive in the most extreme conditions. We see the need for water, safety and comfort, which drives both animal behaviours and the human quest for spirituality. Above all, we witness the spirit of togetherness, friendship and symbiosis that are key to survival and evolution; especially in an arid world that is insurmountable without another’s support. The remote landscape is both a metaphor for ultimate freedom and the impossibility of survival. The dancing nomads seem isolated in this environment, just as the present-day world for minority groups can be a desert: a dangerous place to stay. Set to the Middle-Eastern inspired music of Felix Buxton of Basement Jaxx.
