Nykolaes and Daniel Paul were both born and raised in Flanders fields before they went cohousing in Brussels. With their album Neofolk (on the label Toverberg), they made one of the most beautiful and underrated Belgian albums of 2023. Think of soft, half-mumbled and half-sung songs combining guitar and electronics, sometimes with autotune, sometimes out of tune. Emotional and honest living room music in both English and Dutch. Or the story of what happens when friends spontaneously make a record with a couple of strings, lo-fi equipment, lots of love and melancholy.
