Festive opening night of the exhibition by Saodat Ismailova

In her practice, Uzbek artist and filmmaker Saodat Ismailova interweaves myths, rituals and dreams with everyday life. Moving from the personal to collective memory, she connects Central Asia’s recent history to the world of storytelling, exploring the healing effects of spiritual heritage.

On the occasion of the opening of her first solo exhibition in Belgium, curator Karen Verschooren will take us on a journey through female lived experiences across Central-Asian time and space, diving deeper into the works presented in the exhibition including Chillahona, 2022; Chillpiq, 2018, Celestial Circle, 2013; Zukhra, 2013; and Her Right, 2020.

The artist talk takes place live in STUK, but due to unforeseen circumstances Saodat Ismailova cannot be present in STUK. She will give her artist talk online.
