Oriental Psych Flamingods + Phoenician Drive

A musical trip along the silk road between Eastern music traditions and psychedelic rock

TIMING

20:15 - 21:00 Phoenician Drive
21:15 - 22:00 Flamingods

The psychedelic rock of Flamingods and Phoenician Drive mirrors the cultural diversity in metropoles such as London and Brussels. With members originating from Northern Africa, the Middle East, the Mediterranean and Western Europe, it’s not surprising that their music sounds like a tajine royal in which Turkish, Arab and Maghreb music traditions mix with Western psychedelica and repetitive krautrock.

As such the Brussels-based sextet Phoenician Drive combines Eastern instruments like the oud and derbuka with fuzzy guitars and groovy drums. Phoenician Drive will present their debut album which is due for the 12th of October.

In case of the London quartet Flamingods, the Bahraini roots of frontman Kamal Rasool form the base of their danceable music that sounds like the Sahara-version of Grizzly Bear. This double bill smells even more exotic than a Persian caravanserai!
